What You Will Find Inside

Fundraising isn’t really about money.  It’s actually more about preparing people to be responsive to an ask.

It’s about passion and in the church, it’s about gratitude and faith.

This book is a practical guide with actionable strategies that will increase revenue in your church and create a culture of giving.

Strategies that identify the challenges faced by today’s churches and offers real solutions.

Getting Started

If you want to increase the revenue in your church or organization and you are not sure where to start, this book is a good resource to give you the tools you need to get started.

The Book

Harder’s Definitive Guide to Faith-Based Fundraising, is part handbook, part encyclopedia, and part practical guide that many will find invaluable, returning to it again and again for direction, encouragement, and next steps.

The Basics

The first few sections address the basic principles and strategies in fundraising that most churches and faith-based organizations should have in place.

Additional Strategies

The next couple of sections deal with a few strategies that some churches may not be as familiar with; grants, major gift and legacy giving, for example.

High five thank you

Gratitude

The final few sections address how gratitude can make all the difference in your stewardship program, for donors and volunteers.

I offer Michelle my congratulations on this excellent book.  It represents a significant contribution to the Canadian fundraising body of knowledge.  Buy a copy for your priest, imam, reverend or rabi.

What People Are Saying About The Book

Church leaders rarely receive training in how to engage our congregations in talking about money, yet the choices that we make about how, what and why we give are at the centre of Christian living. This book offers a comprehensive look at the components of stewardship, breaking down in clear and insightful detail the steps needed to engage our communities in the life-changing opportunity of giving thoughtfully, generously and intentionally—always linking frank talk around money to the big picture of the life of faith. This is an essential read for Christian leaders in Canada.
Martha Tartanic

Author, Anglican Priest

Wisdom and experience are the hallmarks of this book. Harder speaks of the need to continually woo the faithful by engaging in meaningful relationships. Supported by valiant research, and peppered with social commentary, Harder calls on church leaders to up their game, exercise greater discipline and engage in authentic leadership as a prerequisite to raising money.  It’s all about stewardship she argues. Her focus is on caring deeply for community and the faithful. Taking care of donors and their offerings. She not only shares “what” needs to be done, but also guides us in the “how”. Authentic relationships, deep caring, shared values and the money will follow.
Tony Myers

Is the Harders’ book “just” about churches and keeping them solvent? Well, it starts there and shares concrete advice. The “Seven Myths of Church Fundraising” is a major wake-up call. The book has plans, social media strategies, and how to land large gifts effectively.

But the sky’s the limit.  The book is about faith-based missions of all sizes and kinds.  This new book is a faith fundraising bible (small B).
